The Complications of Sex in the Me Too Age The availability of reliable birth control since the 1960s has transformed human interaction, but it has also made sex more complicated than ever before. The rules for engaging in sexual intercourse have vanished, leading to experimentation and a lack of clear boundaries, which has resulted in negative consequences such as AIDS and campus rape.
The Need for a Serious Conversation About Consent The #MeToo movement and affirmative consent have reasserted old sexual taboos, and the idea of extracting sex from emotional and psychological intimacy is not a tenable one. There is a need for a serious conversation about what constitutes consent, but society is not mature enough to have that conversation. The radical left has proposed unrealistic solutions, such as requiring signed consent before making any physical move, but the real solution is to relearn the acceptable rules of propriety with regards to sexual relationships.
