I Built a TEMU Gaming PC

Intro

00:00:00

In this video, the goal is to build an affordable yet functional PC using parts from Teu. Despite being late to the trend, partnering with Teu offers access to their low-priced hardware and significant discounts. The creator emphasizes transparency by selecting all components independently without any influence or modifications from Teu.

Parts from TEMU: CPU Cooler, RAM, SSD, Cable Extensions, Thermal Paste and Pads

00:01:24

Exploring TEMU's CPU Cooler and Cable Extensions The video begins with an introduction to a CPU cooler from the company Managu, which is not well-known in the US but recognized overseas. Priced at around $55 on TEU after discounts, it includes all necessary components for installation and appears to be of comparable quality to other brands available in the States. The presenter then examines cable extensions from Link Up, noting that they are slightly cheaper than similar products found on Amazon or Newegg while maintaining equivalent quality.

Evaluating Thermal Pads, SSDs, and RAM Quality Next up are thermal pads and paste; basic silicone thermal pads come in various thicknesses along with affordable thermal grease priced at two dollars without specific volume information. Moving onto storage solutions: a 1TB NVMe Gen 3 SSD by Target lacks detailed speed specifications but will undergo benchmarking later. Finally discussed is memory also by Target—though mistakenly ordered as just one stick of 8GB—the pricing aligns closely with familiar brands sold domestically despite slower shipping times.

Parts from TEMU: Motherboard and Case

Maxsun Challenger B760M: A Legitimate Motherboard Option The Maxsun Challenger B760M motherboard, compatible with LGA 1700 Intel processors, is highlighted as a legitimate product on Teemu. Despite being less known in the US, Maxsun offers motherboards at prices comparable to more popular brands. The pricing for essential components like memory and SSDs remains consistent with market expectations.

League of Doyu Shark MM Case: Affordable but Limited Options Teemu's case selection includes options from lesser-known brands such as League of Doyu. The Shark MM case was purchased for $60 using coupons and discounts; it arrived quickly due to local shipping centers. While the quality matches budget cases from other brands, there are limited choices available which may not appeal broadly to PC builders.

Parts from Me

The motherboard was as expected for the price paid, but many parts were missing. Chimu doesn't have all components to complete a build yet, so additional personal components are necessary. An LGA 1700 b7m motherboard will be paired with an Intel i5 13400 processor and an RTX 3070 graphics card due to limited options on their site. The power supply is also sourced personally since no suitable ones are available.

Building the PC

00:12:21

Starting Off: Challenges and Initial Setup Building the PC would probably find itself below F tier on the tier list so yeah let's get to building this thing. I'm going to cut through this quite a bit just because some of this is pretty boring standard stuff but I'll show in more detail or explain some of the more unique stuff specifically to this Teemu build oh, it's been so long since I've used a single stick of memory in any PC build um but it was my mistake so I'm going to have to live with it then we have the SSD all right we are ready.

Case Constraints and Radiator Placement We are using an old Micro ATX and ATX Tower due to limited motherboard options. I need Molex cable for fan power which isn't common nowadays; budget cases often require them though. The radiator doesn't fit at top as expected, only fans do; thus, 240 aio goes front while keeping consistent fan types there.

'Airflow Strategy & Final Touches' The air path will be from front intake out through top/rear exhausts after installing radiator upfront with included case fans remaining intact for consistency's sake. Top rear spot can't house CPU power connector hence moved closer forward instead before pump block installation followed by thermal paste application evenly spread via pressure method akin peanut butter jar scraping technique ensuring proper alignment hand-tightened securely thereafter graphics card insertion follows next alongside cabling management efforts subsequently undertaken albeit tedious yet necessary step towards completion process overall finally culminating into finished product reveal showcasing cleaned-up main chamber despite cramped backside space limitations inherent micro HX form factor exacerbated further normal PSU usage necessitating extensive tucking bundling excess cables especially noticeable pink backdrop contrasting black ones ultimately closed up requiring decent amount force typical budget builds

Finished Build B-Roll and Initial Impressions

00:19:42

Disappointment with RGB Fan Control The build is operational, but there's disappointment regarding the case's RGB fans. The lack of control over these budget-case fans is evident as there’s no hub or controller available. Despite an LED button on the top panel, it seems repurposed from a previous design not originally intended for tempered glass panels.

Quality of AIO and ARGB Components In contrast to the case fans, the AIO and other ARGB components perform well visually. These elements are connected via three-pin 5-volt connectors ensuring synchronized lighting effects.

BIOS and SSD Testing, RAM Investigation

00:21:32

BIOS Configuration and RAM Performance The BIOS build date is within the last six months, with newer versions available on Mac Suns' website. The processor and 8GB of memory are detected, though the RAM isn't optimal due to its CL22 latency compared to a preferable CL16 for 3200 MHz frequency. Key settings like XMP and resizable bar are enabled without overclocking adjustments.

SSD Testing: Speed and Components Analysis Using Crystal Disk Info revealed limited manufacturer details but showed no prior usage data on the SSD. File transfer tests between drives demonstrated decent sustained speeds despite minor fluctuations during small file transfers, reaching up to around 700 MB/s at peak times. Further inspection identified SanDisk NAND flash memory paired with an SM2263XT controller from Silicon Motion under warranty-void stickers.

Gaming to Test Temperatures

00:27:32

Testing Gaming Performance with 8GB RAM Gaming benchmarks were conducted to test temperatures and performance, particularly focusing on an 8GB RAM setup. Starfield ran at mid-50s FPS on ultra settings with high CPU load but maintained cool temperatures due to effective cooling solutions. Cyberpunk also performed decently at around 30 FPS in crowded areas and up to the mid-50s while driving, without stuttering or freezing.

System Stability Under Heavy Load A synthetic benchmark using Cinebench was run to fully load all CPU cores and check system stability under extreme conditions. The package temperature peaked at a stable low of just below 70°C after several cycles, indicating efficient thermal management even during heavy usage scenarios.

Closing Thoughts

00:33:41

Building a PC with Teemu Components: Quality and Limitations The attempt to build a PC using components from Teemu resulted in mixed outcomes. While five out of eight parts were sourced successfully, the lack of variety was evident, particularly for graphics cards and cases. The available products worked as intended without being cheap knockoffs but didn't offer significant discounts compared to other marketplaces. For basic components like SSDs, memory, fans, and cable extensions there is decent availability; however more intricate hardware such as GPUs or CPUs are scarce.

Teemu's Potential in the PC Building Market Despite some limitations in product variety on Teemu’s platform currently hindering its competitiveness against established marketplaces for building PCs it shows potential if they expand their offerings especially beyond accessories into core components like motherboards CPU GPU etc.. Their current selection includes quality items at standard prices rather than bargain deals which might change over time once supplier relationships strengthen making them an attractive option eventually.
