Finding Purpose Amid Tragedy The tragic terror attack at the Olympics, where 11 Israeli athletes were killed, led me to question the existence of God and His plan for my life. This event altered the course of my life and intensified my search for meaning.

Struggles as a Pastor Thirteen years after accepting Jesus and starting a church, I faced severe criticism within my religious movement that contradicted my beliefs. The intense pressure led to panic attacks and hospitalization in a psychiatric ward.

Tom felt hopeless and directionless after receiving criticism, feeling like he had failed God. Moving to Charlotte, he asked God for direction but was told to wait. This led to a period of despair and disillusionment as he struggled with the uncertainty of his future.

Ships are brought into dry dock to remove water and inspect for damage below the waterline. Similarly, in life and ministry, we experience unseen challenges that require repair. God uses waiting periods as a time to make repairs and prepare us for further use, similar to how individuals like David, Joseph, and Moses were prepared by God during wilderness-like experiences.

Barnacles are crustaceans that attach themselves below the waterline on ships. If not removed, they grow a hairlike substance called Satan's beard, which slows down the ship. Similarly, in pursuit of God, people need to remove relationships that drain life without producing anything.

The speaker reflects on a successful athletic career but struggles to reconcile faith with personal challenges. The journey includes marriage, raising children, and facing unknown hardships. A traumatic experience leads to a cry for help from the hospital.
