What are Square Roots? | Math with Mr. J

Square roots represent the number that, when multiplied by itself, equals a given value. For instance, squaring 3 results in 9 (3 x 3 = 9), and thus the square root of 9 is also 3. Similarly, squaring 5 gives us 25 (5 x 5 =25), making the square root of this number equal to five as well. Continuing with examples: for four squared we find two since two times two equals four; and for six squared resulting in thirty-six confirms that its square root is six.
