In Creola, Timothy Lamar Riles and his son, Timothy Andrew Riles, were arrested and charged with assault after allegedly attacking a 40-year-old man who had trespassed across their property on a motorcycle. The pair pursued him to the I-65 service road, where they beat him, striking the back of his neck and the base of his skull with what appeared to be a pistol. The elder Riles called police to the scene; officers found them there, and the victim was hospitalized with a concussion and brain swelling, remaining unconscious for an extended period and spending about 24 hours in ICU. The victim has been released and is expected to fully recover, and investigators have found no prior connection between him and the Riles. Senior Timothy Riles is a retired Mobile County Sheriff’s Office employee who left on medical disability in 2002.
